Prototype Day One Testing

Update: GPS finally locked after a good 15-20 minutes

Have been having trouble getting GPS coordinates to lock. The module seems to pick up on 27 or so satellites. I’ve changed the coding to poll every 5 minutes and report when coordinates are found. Those get sent when a cat is trapped so a volunteer can locate it easily, it includes a google maps link to the exact position.

The trap is running successfully on it’s own, connecting to cellular and sending heartbeats and messages when the trap is armed and when it closes the trap.

I’ve got it set out with some cat food to try and catch a stray that has been hanging around our house, but most likely i’ll end up catching one of my own cats. I’ll update later once It captures something.

Software and Coding using Claude

In my day job, I’m a web designer and developer, I know most of the LAMP stack pretty well, but I don’t know C++ and the Arudino Framework so I’ve had Claude pretty much plan out everything with my input, and write all the code for me, and I provide my inputs and changes.
